Description

The Mayfield Tobacco Topping Gun dispenses measured doses of the liquid chemical used in the de-suckering process of tobacco plants. Conventional methods of chemical application to tobacco plants are inaccurate and labour intensive, as each plant requires the chemical to be spooned on with little cup measures. Invariably the cup measure is not filled to the correct level and / or the chemical was spilt in the process between filling and application. This process requires two people to fulfill the task of de-suckering each tobacco plant. The Mayfield Tobacco Topping Gun maximises labour utilization, requiring only one person to de-sucker each plant, it reduces wastage with no spillage problems, and ensures accurate application and more effective placement of chemical per plant, thus improving the efficiency of the chemical. The dosing gun has a dial gauge where the required dose per plant can be selected. To dispense a measure of chemical the handle is squeezed and the dispensed chemical is directed through a choice of two nozzle attachments. - A small inverted conical nozzle. The invert cone nozzle is placed over the remaining stem of the tobacco plant once the flower has been removed. The chemical is dispensed through a series of small holes in the circumference of the conical nozzle, applying the chemical uniformly around the stem of the plant. The chemical flows down the stem of the tobacco plant killing off sucker growth. - “V” nozzle. This nozzle attachment is used for the placement of the chemical part way down the stem. The “V” facilitates that the chemical is dispensed directly onto the stem.
