DESCRIPTION
A horse loses water and electrolytes through sweat in every training session, every competition and every long trip in a horsebox, and foals also lose fluids during digestive episodes. If these losses are not replaced in time, the animal takes longer to recover, drinks less well and performs worse over the following days.
AMBequus Rehidra is the isotonic rehydration product of AMBiotec's Equus division: a complementary feed in soluble powder form that is dissolved in drinking water, intended for equines of all ages. It is designed to keep the horse well hydrated before and after exercise and to support its recovery after competition, transport or fluid losses of digestive origin.
Once dissolved, it supplies, in isotonic proportion, glucose and the electrolytes the horse loses in these situations (sodium, potassium and chloride), together with bicarbonate. It thus helps to restore water and electrolyte balance and speeds up the return to normal physiological status and to sporting performance.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

• Administration: orally, dissolved in drinking water.
• Preparation: 30 g of AMBequus Rehidra per litre of drinking water (300 g in 10 litres or 3 kg in 100 litres).
• Amount of solution: the litres to be given equal the difference between the weight of the healthy animal and the weight of the dehydrated animal.
• Foals: 1 to 1.5 litres of solution per feed.
• Period of use: one to three days, if it is the sole feed.
• Suckling foals: do not mix the solution with milk replacer and do not give drinking water until two hours after administration.

Field example: a horse weighing 500 kg before an event and 490 kg when it finishes has lost about 10 kg; it is offered 10 litres of solution, prepared with 300 g of AMBequus Rehidra.
Practical points: weigh or estimate the horse's weight before and after exercise or travel to calculate the amount; prepare the solution at the time of use and make sure the powder is fully dissolved; and reseal the bag after each use.
COMPOSITION AND ANALYTICAL CONSTITUENTS

• Composition: dextrose, sodium chloride, potassium chloride and sodium bicarbonate.
• Additives (per kg): technological additives: silicic acid (E551a) 15,700 mg; mixture of flavouring substances 224 mg.
• Analytical constituents: crude protein below 0.1 %, crude fibre below 0.1 %, crude oils and fats below 0.1 %, crude ash below 0.1 %, sodium 1,562 meq/kg, potassium 228 meq/kg, phosphorus below 0.1 %, magnesium below 0.1 %, calcium below 0.1 %, glucose 4,161 mmol/kg, chloride 1,340 meq/kg, lysine below 0.1 %, methionine below 0.1 %.
• Presentation: soluble powder.
• How the formula works: it combines a sugar and mineral salts which, dissolved in water, form an isotonic solution; bicarbonate completes the electrolyte supply.
