Overview
Materneo is an individual farrowing feed and water management system for lactating sows developed by Asserva. It extends the Selfifeeder concept to farrowing by combining programmable individual feed dosing, water micro-dosing and centralized monitoring to prepare sows for the next cycle and reduce feed waste.

Concept and objectives
Materneo aims to provide programmable and individualized feed distribution, limit feed waste, improve sow intake and lactation, monitor silo supplies and detect farrowing events using camera-based image analysis.

How it works
Materneo uses a pneumatic wheel dispenser that measures feed and delivers portions in small doses (typically 100–200 g) adapted to each sow's appetite and ingestion rhythm. Each feed portion can be paired with a micro-dose of water; preset water distribution curves maintain fresh water in the trough between meals.
