Description

Akkerrandmengsel Meerjarig
Seeding rate: 10 kg/ha

About Akkerrandmengsel Meerjarig
Characteristics:
  • Quality seed mix for field margins
  • Landscape-oriented composition
  • Perennial-dominant with selected annuals
  • 100% native species where possible
  • High floral diversity and seasonal continuity

Akkerrandmengsel Meerjarig contains predominantly perennial species complemented by a selection of annuals. Annual species provide immediate flowering and forage for beneficial insects in the first year and generally decline in subsequent seasons. The perennial component reduces maintenance and disturbance, lowering labour and input costs over time.

Species composition (main constituents)
  • Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)
  • Yellow chamomile (Anthemis tinctoria)
  • Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus)
  • Knapweed (Centaurea spp.)
  • Buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum)
  • Corn marigold (Chrysanthemum/Calendula segetum)
  • Meadow vetchling (Lathyrus pratensis)
  • Oxeye daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare)
  • Common clover species
  • Perennial lupin (Lupinus spp.)
  • Musk mallow (Malva moschata)
  • Alfalfa (Medicago sativa)
  • Yellow sweet clover/nectar species
  • Evening primrose (Oenothera spp.)
  • Common poppy (Papaver rhoeas)
  • White clover (Trifolium repens)

Sowing instructions
  • Prepare a weed-free seedbed
  • Do not sow deeper than seed thickness
  • Maximum sowing rate: 1.5 g/m² (15 kg/ha) for hand-broadcasting
  • Broadcast evenly by hand or machine
  • Rake seeds lightly into the surface
  • Keep soil moist for 2 weeks to ensure germination
  • Emergence typically occurs within 2–3 months

When to sow wildflowers
Two options: perennial mixtures — year-round but preferably mid‑August to mid‑October; annual mixtures — sow in spring from March to mid‑June.
