The iGRAIN CO2 Sniffer is the best tool for fast and efficient detection of infestation in a silo, the CO2 monitoring will detect hotspots much quicker than temperature monitoring methods. By measuring the CO2 level in the bin, the system can quantify how much biological activity is present in each bin. The system will show which silo has the worst condition and thereby make it easy to make the best grain management decisions.
CO2 Sniffer monitoring is superior to temperature monitoring systems for detecting hotspots. The detection is faster and gives direct results. In order to perform safe silo monitoring it is still required to include minimum one temperature sensor cable. The amount of temperature cables can be reduced greatly when applying the CO2 Sniffer. For large silos it is much cheaper to monitor with CO2 Sniffer Sensor Cable than traditional temperature monitoring systems, because less temperature sensor cables are needed to ensure hotspots detection faster.
The Sniffer CO2 readings are the main input for the iGRAIN Dashboard risk quantification feature. This so-called “Risk Rating” is calculated for each silo based on historic CO2 measures and level fluctuations hereby giving an indication of the grain condition and an estimate of the predicted safe storage time. The Risk factor ranges from 1 to 6 where 1-2-1 indicates that a very safe grain condition is likely and 5-6 indicates the likelihood of total grain spoilage.
The CO2 Sniffer cable is mounted centrally in the bin, it is suspended halfway into the silo in order to detect a reliable CO2 reading that is representative for the grain mass.
