Overview
BactoScan™ 5 is a 5th‑generation milk bacteria analyzer designed for efficient, safe and cost‑effective measurement of Individual Bacteria Count (IBC) in raw milk. It combines simplified reagent handling, automated dosing and networked data management to optimise laboratory throughput and traceability.

How it works

• 1. Sample is stirred, pumped into a tube and sub‑sampled.
• 2. Sample is dosed into an incubation wheel with staining solution and enzyme for staining and homogenisation.
• 3. Stained sample passes the flow cell and is excited by a green laser; optical components capture signals emitted by bacteria.
• 4. Results are sent to LIMS via FossIntegrator™; automatic cleaning is performed between samples.

• MicroVal certified for total bacterial count in raw cow, sheep and goat milk.
• FDA/NCIMS accepted for official raw milk testing in the U.S.
• Validated against reference methods (Standard Plate Count CFU/ml) and compliant with ISO/IDF and AOAC standards.
