Overview
The 54D is a mid‑mount mower deck with AutoConnect™ drive‑over installation and a shaft‑driven mid‑PTO connection. Designed for agricultural use on compact tractors, it lets operators mow while keeping rear 3‑point hitch implements (backhoes, loaders) attached. Height‑of‑cut (HOC) is adjusted from the tractor using a knob for fast changes.

Installation and removal

• General notes: Four‑wheel drive and low gear required. Perform installation/removal on a firm, level surface. Set HOC to install position before mounting or dismounting.

  • Lower mower lift arm with rockshaft control and slowly drive forward onto deck using guide bar for alignment.
  • Continue until rear latches engage.

Mid‑mower lift system
The forward lift link on the deck is spring‑loaded for automatic connection to tractor front hangers. The PTO drive‑shaft auto‑adjusts as the female end engages the gearbox coupler; tapered guides on the male coupler aid engagement. Available lift options:

• Standard mechanical mower lift — operates with the rear implement via rockshaft lever control.
• Optional hydraulic mower lift — independent raise/lower of mower using dual SCV (loader joystick).
• Optional independent hydraulic mower lift — independent control using a third‑function SCV (requires third SCV on tractor).
