Description

Overview
The S250 is a side-pull mower-conditioner engineered for compatibility with a wide range of tractors. Its compact 2.4 m cutting width suits smaller tractors and acreage while delivering efficient cutting and conditioning to accelerate dry down.
  • PTO requirement: 41 PTO kW (55 PTO hp)
  • Standard clevis hitch for simple hookup
  • Optional equal-angle hitch for improved maneuverability in irregular fields
  • Transport width equals cutting width for convenient field-to-field transport

Key features
  • Quick Change Knife system reduces knife-change time without tools
  • Modular-design cutterbar for easy serviceability and replaceable modules
  • Gear-driven cutting platform for reliable disk drive
  • Impeller (impeller conditioner) standard on this model
  • Adjustable gauge shoes and low-profile cutterbar for consistent cut quality

Conditioner options
Multiple conditioner types allow matching the conditioner to crop and field conditions to minimize dry down time and preserve forage quality.
  • Impeller – suitable for light-stemmed grasses and alfalfa (scuffing action)
  • Urethane – soft roll, recommended for legumes and grasses
  • V10 steel – increased crimping for faster dry down and improved wear life
  • Tri-Lobe™ – patented chevron design to crimp and crush (premium option)

Cutterbar and maintenance
The John Deere cutterbar uses individual diagonal-cut removable modules to simplify service and improve reliability.
  • Nodular iron modules resist impact damage
  • Large idler gears reduce driveline speed and wear
  • Shear hub protection (ShearHub) minimizes repair time and cost in the field
  • Common oil bath for internal lubrication to reduce oil-level checkpoints
  • Oil reservoir capacity: 5.7 L

Quick-change knives
The Quick Change Knife (QCK) system allows rapid knife swaps without tools or air compressors, reducing downtime.
  • More than 50% faster knife change time compared with bolted systems
  • Kits available to retrofit where applicable

Transport and windrow formation
Designed for narrow transport and customizable windrow formation to promote uniform drying.
  • Side-pull models feature center tongue and top-entry drivelines to optimize transport width
  • Quick transition between field and road transport configurations
  • Adjustable swath boards and forming vanes allow on-the-go windrow width changes (large adjustments require no tools)
  • Windrows with consistent volume, no clumping, square shoulders and even edges
