Booms
High-strength square-tube booms with 3D structure to resist fore-aft and twisting loads. Nozzles and plumbing routed between lower tubes for protection. Available configurations: 18.3 m/24.4 m (60/80 ft) or 18.3 m/27.4 m (60/90 ft). Outer wing folds for tight spaces; 24.4 m booms have five sections, 27.4 m booms have seven. Breakaway ends reset by spring; transport cradles support folded booms to reduce stress and improve visibility.

Engine
Turbocharged PowerTech™ PSS 4.5 L Tier 4 diesel delivering 129 kW (173 hp) with a 5% power bulge to 136 kW (182 hp). Four-cylinder/8-valve design with cooled EGR, exhaust aftertreatment (filters and SCR), high-pressure common rail injection and series turbocharger. 310 L fuel tank supports extended operating time (up to ~16 hours depending on use).

Suspension and ride
Four-bar link suspension with two large air springs per axle and oil-filled shocks. Optional Soft Shock factory package reduces damping force for very rough terrain. Standard auto air-spring leveling maintains ride height with ±102 mm travel at the air bag (203 mm total travel).

Boom height and control
BoomTrac Pro 2 automatic boom-height control improves spray accuracy via inertia-monitoring sensors. Note: BoomTrac Pro 2 is required on carbon-fiber booms but is not available for R4023.

Axle and row-fit options
Two axle-width ranges to match row spacings: narrow axle 183–224 cm (72–88 in) with 112 cm (44 in) crop clearance; wide axle 234–307 cm (92–121 in) with 127 cm (50 in) clearance. Choose configuration per crop and regional practices.

Cab and controls
CommandARM™ console with ergonomic multi-function lever (six reconfigurable buttons) and improved accessibility for key controls. Upgraded G5 Plus CommandCenter™ display for data capture, management and transfer.

Precision Ag and application tech
Factory-capable for John Deere Connect Mobile and ExactApply™ nozzle control (six-nozzle turret) with 15‑Hz and 30‑Hz PWM, AutoSelect A/B, turn compensation and individual-nozzle control. ExactApply Multi-Rate available for multiple rates across sections on supported model years.

Connectivity and support
JDLink™ connectivity and John Deere Connected Support™ enable data transfer, remote monitoring, diagnostics and software updates. Five years of JDLink included on applicable newer machines. Requires MTG, JDLink service and an Operations Center account for full functionality.

Solution system and handling
Manual side-fill solution system. Tank material: polyethylene. Plumbing and boom strainers use polypropylene and stainless-steel chemical eductor. Flow and filtration details in specifications.
