Summary
Monobloc stainless steel trough of approximately 400 litres designed to distribute warm water recovered from a milk pre-cooler. Delivers tempered water (around 16-18°C) beneficial for dairy cows' drinking behaviour, reducing thermoregulatory effort and contributing to milk production.

Operation and benefits
A pre-cooler lowers milk temperature by transferring heat to water: roughly 1.5 L of water are required to cool 1 L of milk. The DAIRYNOX 400 reuses this warmed water for drinking. Water leaving the pre-cooler is typically reduced by 15-25°C and is around 17°C, a temperature particularly appreciated by cows, especially in winter. Several studies (Pfundheller 2000, Wilks 1990, Anderson 1984, CIAL des Ardennes 1979/80, Himmei 1964, Kellner 1916) report increases in water intake, feed intake and milk yield with tempered drinking water.
