The ever-increasing supply of large-diameter logs that are not suitable for producing materials for the industry (sawmills) has led Pezzolato to create a system that allows to obtain high quality firewood by processing logs up to 600 mm in diameter. The automatic vertical splitting unit allows logs of any kind to be processed for the production of firewood and firelighters.
The cutting unit, which is fully hydraulic, has a feeding system consisting of three motorised rollers with a 600 mm interaxle spacing and a 1400 mm long toothed chain, a chain saw and a 1600 mm long closed-chain belt for introducing the material onto the splitting station.
The cutting unit, driven by an electric motor with a power of 18.5 kW, can process logs with a maximum diameter of 600 mm.
The operator, from the control pulpit, electronically sets the log measurement with fixed-pitch feeding.
The automatic vertical splitting unit can process logs of any kind with diameters up to 600 mm and lengths up to 500 mm (diameters of less than 300 mm are accepted for fire-starter production, depending on the length, which can be as short as 50 mm).
