The leaf wetness sensor is designed to mimic the thermal mass and the radiation of the real leaf. The way it works is very simple if the plant is moist, then the sensor is moist and if the plant is dry, then the sensor is dry. The leaf wetness sensor measures the dielectric constant on the upper part of the sensor. The dielectric constant of water (80) and the ice (5) is greater than the dielectric constant of air (1), so the sensor can determine the presence or absence of moisture using this method. The measurements are read at the given intervals, and the moisture content of the list is determined. Unlike similar sensors there is no need for coloring or calibration. It is placed in the crown on a branch of a plant.
