Description

Overview
Agrovoltaico® provides patented AgriPV solutions that combine renewable energy generation with agricultural use. Systems are engineered to local crops, soils and climate to produce clean energy without reducing productive land, improving microclimate control, resilience and long-term sustainability.

Service process
  • Preliminary analysis: Assessment of agricultural and energy needs, layout definition and CAPEX/OPEX estimation.
  • Project development: Permitting support, agronomic strategy and landscape & biodiversity integration.
  • Construction: Selection of technical partners, supply of AgriPV structures and control systems (PLC and software), erection supervision and commissioning.
  • Operation & maintenance: Continuous performance monitoring, software updates, preventive/corrective maintenance and spare parts management.

Fixed Agrovoltaico® (stable structures)
Fixed Agrovoltaico® systems offer non-mobile structures designed to integrate with agricultural operations, ensuring stable energy production and crop protection. Configurations include Tunnel and linear or checkerboard rope systems with semi-transparent modules to optimise microclimate and enable rainwater collection.

Fixed Agrovoltaico® — Key configurations and benefits
  • Tunnel: Fixed, versatile structure using semi-transparent modules to create favourable microclimates; suited to sensitive crops and rainwater harvesting. Benefits: optimised microclimate; simplified operations; balanced light.
  • Linear or checkerboard rope structure: Modular, robust design for large areas and slopes up to 15%. Benefits: large coverage; flexible layouts; ease of management; resilience and durability.

Agrovoltaico® 3D/2D and 2D greenhouses (dynamic systems)
Dynamic Agrovoltaico® systems integrate advanced solar tracking (2D and 3D) to maximise energy yield and microclimate control. Systems are adaptable to crop types and environmental conditions to enhance both energy and agricultural productivity.

Tracking technologies and greenhouse solutions
  • 2P-2D single-axis tracker: Versatile single-axis system suited to cereals and flat to gently sloping land; preferred North–South orientation. Benefits: efficient energy production; optimised shading; operational simplicity.
  • 3D bi-axial tracker: Fourth-generation bi-axial tracker offering maximum flexibility and energy output; adapts to any orientation and crop, improving microclimate control.
  • Greenhouse with single-axis tracker: Patented greenhouse integration optimising light distribution for crops while maximising energy efficiency (developed with Barre).

Research & Development
R&D supports system design and operational strategies through agronomic big-data analysis, predictive models and machine learning to refine shading, irrigation and production forecasts. Data-driven insights are applied to increase crop efficiency and sustainable cultivation.

AgriPV process and research activities
  • AgriPV process: Balances structure, crops and energy via modular systems, sensors and predictive software, evolving through data analysis.
  • Agricultural research: Field data from AgriPV sites to understand crop responses and optimise shading and yields.
  • Applied AI: Uses pedo-climatic and operational data to optimise management and decision-making.

Achievements & references
Multiple installed projects and pilots across Europe, including rope systems, tunnel installations and 2P/3D tracker plants in France, Germany, Portugal and Italy, demonstrating improved microclimate control, energy generation on agricultural land and enhanced crop resilience.
