Overview
The Seed Hawk air drill delivers precise one-pass seed and fertiliser placement for a wide range of soils. Available in working widths from 12.2 m (40') to 25.6 m (84') and configurable for 254 mm (10") or 305 mm (12") row spacing, the Seed Hawk is designed for shallow seeding with accurate depth control and immediate soil consolidation.

What is new for Model Year 2027
MY2027 updates for the Seed Hawk Air Seeder family focus on nutrient-use efficiency, improved germination uniformity and enhanced durability. Key updates include:
  • Availability of Extend Series knives by BTT for Seed Hawk 40–84.
  • Extend Series Inline Side Band (ISB) seed knives with hardsurfacing behind carbide to increase durability while maintaining seed placement accuracy.
  • Extend Series fertiliser knives with MAX LIFE™ treatment on the lower edge, back and bottom to strengthen high-wear areas for extended service life.
  • Wing-fold improvements on XL toolbars: larger-diameter cylinders for centre and outer wing folds and larger pivot pin on centre cylinders for faster, smoother folding and reduced pressure spikes when aftermarket options are fitted.

Product concept & coulter system
The Seed Hawk uses independent tine coulters mounted to pivot at the frame. Each tine coulter performs shallow seeding, precise depth control, fertiliser placement and packing in a single pass. The double-knife arrangement (separate seed and fertiliser knives) provides:
  • Separation of seed and fertiliser to prevent fertiliser burn.
  • Accurate seed placement in firm, moist soil with excellent seed-to-soil contact.
  • Creation of a fine tilth in the furrow, open sidewalls and an uncompacted furrow bottom to support air and moisture exchange and root development.

Key benefits for germination and early growth
  • Nutrient-use efficiency: precise placement gives roots early access to nutrients.
  • Quicker, more uniform germination: optimal seed-to-soil contact, correct furrow temperature and better moisture retention accelerate emergence.
  • Precision seed-to-fertiliser placement: fertiliser is closed over before the seed is placed to avoid burn and enable early uptake.
  • Micro-strip tillage effect: tine furrows warm faster than surrounding soil, promoting early germination and mineralisation.
  • Moisture retention: fine tilth and immediate consolidation reduce evaporation and preserve moisture for the seed.

Extend Series by BTT (selection details)
Available Extend Series knife options include:
  • Extend Series Inline Side Band (ISB) seed knives — hardsurfacing on the upper face behind carbide to maintain seed-placement accuracy over time.
  • Extend Series fertiliser knives — MAX LIFE™ treatment on the lower edge, back and bottom to reinforce high-wear zones and extend service intervals.

XL toolbar wing-fold improvements
XL toolbar upgrades include larger-diameter cylinders for centre and outer wing folds and a larger pivot pin on the centre cylinders. These enhancements deliver faster and smoother folding cycles with reduced hydraulic pressure spikes when additional aftermarket options are installed, improving folding reliability.

Seed Hawk coulter details
The tine coulter assembly is central to Seed Hawk performance. Key functional points include:
  • Independent operation of each coulter for consistent shallow seeding and depth accuracy.
  • Double-knife configuration to keep seed and fertiliser in separate channels and ensure precise placement.
