Product overviewMagnelis® is a flat carbon steel coated on both sides with a zinc‑aluminium‑magnesium (ZM) alloy. It is engineered for structural and industrial applications requiring extended corrosion protection in outdoor and aggressive environments. The coating provides self‑healing protection on cut edges and a uniform metallic appearance that may darken over time without affecting performance.
Applications- Construction: ventilated facade sub‑structures, composite floors, roof purlins, wall rails, rainwater systems, light steel framing
- Appliances and electrical equipment: cable trays, housing panels
- Agriculture: animal housing, silos, greenhouse structures
- Industrial components and equipment exposed to corrosive atmospheres
- Infrastructure: safety barriers, lighting poles, road signs, acoustic walls, bridge parapets
- Solar industry: support structures and mounting systems
Guarantees & sustainabilityMagnelis® is offered in XCarb® recycled and renewably produced options to lower CO2 footprint. Depending on coating grade (e.g., ZM310, ZM620) and exposure, long‑term guarantees can be provided for specific environments, in some cases up to 25 years or more.
Technical informationThe ZM alloy coating combines zinc, aluminium and magnesium to deliver substantially improved corrosion resistance versus conventional galvanised steel. It is suitable for severe conditions including maritime, chloride‑rich, ammonia‑rich atmospheres and aggressive soils. Key technical benefits include:
- Significantly better external corrosion resistance compared to standard galvanised steel
- Self‑healing protection on cut edges and abrasions
- High resistance in maritime, chloride and ammonia environments
- Cost‑effective production versus batch galvanised alternatives
- Reduced maintenance needs compared with post‑painting
- Good formability with low powdering — suitable for bending, deep drawing and profiling
- Compatible with common welding methods (spot, arc, HFI) with minor parameter adjustments
Certifications & validationMagnelis® corrosion performance has been independently assessed and accredited by recognised bodies (examples: CSTB preliminary evaluations, SP, DIBT). Detailed test reports and certifications are available for specific ZM grades and applications.
