The challenge:
Piglets are born without their own immune system. Early colostrum intake is essential because, due to the pig’s placental barrier, piglets are born without maternal antibodies and therefore without protection against infections. Increasing litter sizes can lead to insufficient colostrum per piglet, especially for lighter or less vital piglets, resulting in poorer starting conditions. In very large litters or when sows have below-average milk yields, supply gaps for suckling piglets can occur.

BEWI-SAN Piglet Start is a complementary feed used to support the immunity of newborn piglets directly after birth and to bridge potential colostrum gaps.

• Prevents dehydration and helps stabilise electrolyte balance

Application and dosage
Application area: Post-colostrum milk for larger litters and in case of insufficient colostrum intake of newborn piglets.
Application: Dissolve 150–200 g BEWI-SAN Piglet Start in 1 litre of lukewarm water (max. 40 °C). Use immediately after birth until the 4th–5th day of life (ensure colostrum intake); then switch to a milk from the BEWI-MILK® Piglet programme.
