Vitality Monitoring System efficient, precise and battery-powered VIM is a system, developed by Big Dutchman, that reliably monitors the health of laying hens kept in cages. VIM is equipped with one laser scanner in each tier, which scans the hens’ legs. When VIM finds larger obstructions, it memorises the cage section where this obstruction occurred. The system can scan up to eight tiers without catwalk at the same time. VIM runs along the feed trough borders in two tiers. At the end of the row, VIM moves around the corner via a tubular by-pass. Only one device is required per row. After scanning the entire cage row, VIM moves into the parking position at the feeding end set, where it connects to two charging contacts to recharge its battery. VIM is very quiet when operating and moves slowly along the cages so it does not startle the birds. No special lighting is needed. In addition to the stand-alone version, where you can read the results directly on the display of the 507 controller, a wi-fi version is also available. The wi-fi version enables the data to be downloaded onto a PC and printed out as a report.
