Description

ViscoPract is an enzymatic product designed to reduce viscosity, improve mixing and flowability, and dissolve floating and settling layers in biogas digesters. It specifically targets hard-to-degrade, plant-based substrates and helps stabilize the fermentation process for reliable plant operation.

How ViscoPract works
ViscoPract dissolves consolidated solid layers and degrades water-binding polymers formed during the digestion of plant-based problem substrates. Its tailored enzyme activity profiles act on multiple structural substances to improve the flow behaviour of the liquid phase and the sliding properties of fibrous material, resulting in lower viscosity and better handling of fibrous feedstocks.

Performance and stability
Laboratory and field studies have demonstrated ViscoPract’s effectiveness in biogas processes. The formulation exhibits strong temperature stability and broad pH tolerance, enabling consistent performance under typical digester conditions.

Testing (inclined channel test)
  • Take samples directly from the fermenter.
  • Retain one untreated control sample and treat other samples with ViscoPract and with conventional first‑generation enzymes for comparison.
  • After a defined reaction time, pour samples onto an inclined channel and observe flow behaviour.
  • Document and compare results to demonstrate improved flowability with ViscoPract.

Benefits
  • Rapid, measurable improvement in mixing performance
  • Elimination of floating layers and prevention of reformation
  • More stable plant operation with challenging substrates
  • Reduced wear on mixing and pumping equipment
  • Lower internal power consumption
