RUBUS phoenicolasius (Japanese Wineberry) is a deciduous bramble producing small, very sweet orange-red berries. Fruits typically ripen in August and are suitable for fresh sale and processing.

Cultivation and care
  • Hardiness: USDA zones 4–8
  • Site: full sun to partial shade, well-drained soil, pH 5.5–7.0
  • Planting spacing: 1.2–1.5 m between plants
  • Pruning: cane management after fruiting, remove old canes to promote new growth
