The Cherry tomato washing machine is developed to wash and dry Cherry tomatoes before they go into packaging, mostly shakers and small packages. The ready to eat concept for snack greens, (Cherry tomatoes among others) is a great advantage. The washing line is fully built of stainless steel, and depending on the capacity, is at least 4 metres long. The first section consists of a buffer belt for an equivalent distribution to the washing section, the washing section consists of 40 axles covered with sponge rubber, which rotate the tomatoes several times. Above the belt, there is a water mist of clean water. Using 2 or 3 big ventilators, the tomatoes are again blown dry, after which they come straight onto the picking belt, and then they can be packed immediately. The water supply is shut off with an electric intake valve if the washing line stops. The spray water (+/- 2 m3 per hour) first goes through a filter and is collected using sheet and is drained off centrally. Due to this, the tomatoes get an improved shine and the bitter taste of the tomato green is removed, and other remainders of soil are removed. The washing machine can be placed in any packaging line. The frame and belts of the washing line are made entirely of stainless steel. The machine is maintenance-free due to this. The machine is made as per the requirements imposed by the ARBO [Dutch Safety, Health & Welfare Service Act], ISO 9001 and EC.
