Description

Overview
Multi-span livestock houses designed for medium and large-scale farming provide flexible undercover space for sheep, calves, cattle, goats, pigs and poultry. Structures are used for loose housing, penned groups, feed passages and year‑round protection for stock.

Standard design & layout
The standard multi-span unit comprises 3 bays in a 26ft – 18ft – 26ft arrangement. Outer 26ft bays are configured for loose housing or penned groups with a central drive/access passage. The central 18ft bay is typically a feed passage but can be adapted for emergency lambing or segregation pens. The multi-span layout reduces lost floor area to feed/access passages and allows safe access for larger vehicles and feeding wagons.

Performance & animal welfare benefits
  • Shortwave daylight radiation produces warmer, drier internal conditions, reducing bedding usage.
  • Warmer housing can improve feed conversion ratios, lowering feed costs.
  • Natural light (UVA + UVB) helps minimise bacteria, fungi, mould and odours.
  • High, dry airflow supports a cleaner, healthier environment for animals and stock keepers.
  • Increased natural light reduces artificial lighting needs and energy consumption.
  • Sunshine and warmth from natural light contribute to vitamin availability and can reduce lamb/calf mortality.
  • Lower incidence of twin‑lamb disease is observed in suitable designs.
  • Typically lower build cost compared with many traditional buildings.

Scalability & tailoring
Consolidating larger numbers of animals under one roof simplifies routine tasks and enables centralised inspection and emergency segregation. Length and number of bays can be customised; bay functions can be adapted for pens, feed passages or access. Bespoke design services include 2D & 3D modelling, structural analysis and project engineering support.

Typical capacity examples
Indicative examples: a flock of ~400 medium ewes can be accommodated in an approximate 70ft × 120ft building. A 70ft × 144ft layout could house around 120 calves in groups of 10 with live weights up to 199kg each. Final sizing is customised to requirements.

Manufacture, delivery & construction
Manufacture takes place in a UK facility (approx. 2000m2) with capability to process large tonnages of steel structures. The operation provides extensive dispatch areas and a delivery fleet for mobilisation. On-site project management and specialist equipment support efficient construction, with aftercare and maintenance services available.

Technical specifications
  • Model / series: AGRItunnel Multi Span (multi-span livestock housing)
  • Standard bay configuration: 3-bay 26ft – 18ft – 26ft
  • Suggested starting footprint example: 70ft wide × 120ft long (suitable for ~400 medium ewes)
  • Alternate footprint example: 70ft wide × 144ft long (approx. 120 calves in groups of 10 up to 199kg each)
  • Hoop (arch) spacing: normally 8ft apart (gutter profile dictates hoop spacing)
  • Hoop spacing alternatives: 7ft or 6ft possible with modifications (drilling/filling)
  • Length: any length available in increments of the hoop spacing
  • Central bay purpose: typically feed/access passage; adaptable for emergency lambing or segregation pens
  • Design services: bespoke design, 2D & 3D modelling, structural analysis, project engineering support
  • Manufacturing capacity indicators: 2000m2 UK facility; capability to process large tonnage steel structures per annum
