The ozone treatment of interior spaces is an equally effective and proven procedure for large-surface disinfection applications or for the effective elimination of odours resulting from fire and water damage.
So far, however, it has been required after every treatment to wait for the lengthy process of ozone depletion first, in the course of which the unoxidized ozone in the room slowly disintegrates into oxygen in a natural way. Because the rooms treated previously can only be safely entered if the values measured fall below the prescribed limit values again.
In the case of the natural disintegration method without oxygen regeneration technology, the specific half-life period of ozone determines the decay process. In interior spaces and under normal conditions, ozone usually has a half-life of approx. 30 to 60 minutes. This means that the ozone concentration in the room air only halves every hour in a natural way. The larger the room treated and the more powerful the ozone disinfector, the higher the ozone concentration in the room and, correspondingly, the more time-consuming the natural disintegration process.
