Who we are

History

Manufacturers of high-quality machinery since 1980

Cosmeco is located in Ostiglia, not far from Mantua and Verona city, right in the heart of the Padan Plain, furrowed by the Po river and its tributaries. Land of ancient agricultural tradition, this rich expanse witnessed, through the years, to several praiseworthy adjustments and remodelling operations of the river courses. This led to the creation of a thick network of channels that provide water to the many cultivated fields, which have always been a characteristic of this landscape. It is in this backdrop that Costantino Rossi, who already had a 15-year experience as a technical designer in the agricultural mechanization industry, founded in 1980 Cosmeco. What started out as a simple metal workshop, is now a dynamic and modern artisan reality.

As early as 1981, the company started to give its first contribution to the field of agricultural mechanization, by designing and building its first rotary ditchers, which were warmly welcomed and appreciated by customers, whose requests increased exponentially and with that became each time more peculiar, eventually driving Cosmeco to expand its range up to 30 different models of earth-moving machines. With such a solid start, it was just a matter of time before the company crossed the Italian borders and found its place in the international market. Since then, Cosmeco is among the three top Ditcher manufacturers in the world.

In 1984, Cosmeco acquired the business branch of agricultural production from Cosmoter, a company which, at that time, was focused on the production of ditchers and industrial excavators. In the 1990s horticulture, another cornerstone of the Mantuan territory, peaked Cosmeco interest, the company eventually started designing projects and prototypes introducing new machines and techniques for soil preparation. In 1992, the first recognition came from the EIMA exhibition, with a technical innovation award for the Bedformer combined with plastic mulch layer created for the cultivation of melons and watermelons. Subsequently in 1993, during Fieraagricola in Verona, Cosmeco won another technical innovation award for the large-size adjustable Bedformer for asparagus and strawberries, which, as today, is proposed in 5 different variants.

Cosmeco ascent continued towards the 2000s, years in which the company kept endorsing and promoting the evolution of agricultural practices, contributing with new proposals and customized solutions for any kind of need or product. Thus the adjustable film layer for low tunnels was born. A machine especially designed for melons and watermelons. Then came the highly efficient vertical ditchers for irrigation and water drainage, whose success has for long time equalled that of the traditional ditchers. It’s in 2004, however, that Cosmeco came up with its brightest star thanks to an internal and absolutely exclusive project, the BIG STORM comes to life. The biggest ditcher in the world, tested in extreme conditions.

Nowadays Cosmeco has been passed on to the second generation. Today the manager is Claudia Rossi, daughter of Costantino, hence assuring continuity in a tradition which has its roots in the past, but always keeps an eye on what the future holds. The result is a complete range of valuable machines made by skilled craftsmen, with modern and up to date technologies, certified materials and an exceptional durability. Today it’s not unusual to find a Cosmeco machine that has been working for 30 years.

COSMECO, WE’VE BEEN LEAVING A MARK FOR OVER 40 YEARS.
