Spread-a-bale

About Us

With 25 years of proven design, Spread-a-Bale produce British-made bale spreading machines which are designed and manufactured here at our factory in North Wales, UK.

Developed by former dairy farmer, Michael Hughes, our patented machines are built for endurance - we understand that reliability and durability are paramount.

Providing livestock farmers with a unique, efficient solution to one of the most labourious daily tasks, spreading bedding straw, Spread-a-Bale machines are proud to save up to 75% labour and up to 50% straw whilst spreading round and square bales with minimal dust. In a recent Innovate UK funded, independent on-farm trial, it was found that a turbine processor produced 89% more airborne dust than a Spread-a-Bale machine in the same scenario. This is because Spread-a-Bale does not chop or blow, but insteads teases the bale apart, maintaining the straws integrity to allow for a fluffier, more absorbant bed that lasts longer. Spread-a-Bale was also found to be 20% quieter in operation compared with a turbine straw processor, helping to reduce the risk of animal disturbance.

Spread-a-Bale machines are self-loading, whether from the stack or the floor, meaning that only one loader is required. Whether you operate a Skidsteer, tractor loader or telehandler, Spread-a-Bale is quick and easy to attach / detach and enables effortless bedding, distributing a full bale in less than one minute wile requiring only 55 litres/minute oil flow. With no electrics, very low maintenance, and minimal runnng costs, our machines deliver reliable performance day after day.

With a choice of three spreading heads (2VR, HR, ST), Spread-a-Bale offer versatile, configurable machines to bed any shed configuration.
