Description

Product overview

The ARPAL AM-120BD PRO is a wheeled, gasoline-powered wood chipper from ARPAL's professional range, designed for rapid processing of branches up to 120 mm in diameter with a throughput of up to 6 m³/h. Built for intensive daily use by farmers, arborists, municipal services and landscape contractors, it complies with EU safety directives and is trusted by customers in Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada and beyond.

The machine converts branches and timber waste into uniform firewood chunks of 90–180 mm — a superior fuel for solid-fuel and pyrolysis boilers, fireplaces and stoves, and an ideal feedstock for charcoal production. Thanks to the optimal fraction size, the chunks season naturally without specialized drying and store significantly better than traditional logs.

Key features

  • Professional AL-KO axle with car-type wheels and a hitch-mount frame. As agricultural equipment, the chipper can be towed by a tractor; on-road towing regulations for passenger vehicles vary by country — please check local requirements.
  • PureCut shredding technologies: ARPAL ExtraCut knives in AISI 5140 steel with a precision double-bevel edge, induction-hardened to ~50 HRC over a ductile core — up to 200 m³ of wood per sharpening, up to six maintenance cycles.
  • KineticCore gearbox with induction-hardened gears multiplies torque for confident cutting of maximum-diameter and irregular branches.
  • Stabilising inertia flywheel accumulates kinetic energy, compensates peak loads and prevents RPM drops on thick branches.
  • SmartFix tapered couplings ensure perfect knife alignment and slip on extreme overload (~2000 Nm), protecting shafts and gears.
  • ARPAL Total Protect safety package: extended hopper geometry makes contact with the knives physically impossible; Quick Stop emergency handle at the hopper edge; PowerGuard friction clutch protects the engine from overload; all belts and flywheels fully enclosed in protective guards with a safety curtain at the input.
  • Easy Start clutch engagement near 1500 rpm — smooth, stress-free startup for both operator and engine.
  • ErgoBase functional design: reinforced heavy-duty hopper with perimeter stiffening ribs, plug-and-play operation, easy hand-access to service points, and premium electrostatic powder coating that keeps the machine corrosion-free and "like-new" even after years of outdoor use.
  • Options: dual output hopper-sorter for bagging chunks into mesh bags; additional knife sets.
