Orius laevigatus The minute pirate bug Orius laevigatus is a voracious beneficial insect against thrips. Adults eat all mobile thrips stages, while nymphs prefer thrips larvae. Orius bugs also devour other prey such as aphids, spider mites, whiteflies or moth eggs. They sometimes kill more prey than strictly necessary for their own feeding.
