Description

Overview Made-to-measure shade halls and shade tunnels developed with commercial growers to provide semi-shading, protection from direct sunlight and free air circulation, creating optimal conditions for nursery stock and commercial crops.

Key design & construction
  • Framework manufactured from 50mm (2") diameter high-tensile MAGNAtube® pre-galvanised steel tubing (MG35).
  • Grid layout to maximise floor use and access; typical module: 3.75m x 3.75m.
  • Typical internal height: approx. 2.7m.
  • Access options include clear sections or doors (standard door: 0.89m x 2.55m).

Roof & side cladding
  • Roof: Paraweb heavy‑duty flat‑tape material providing 40–45% shade; flat tape design allows straps to tip under snow load to shed accumulation.
  • Sides: 40% shade knitted polyethylene monofilament netting; optional net types: 40–45% shade, anti-bird, insect or butterfly netting.
  • Cladding can combine netting and polythene to meet specific crop or site requirements.

Shade Tunnels (alternative form) Shade tunnels use a polytunnel‑style framework (typically MAGNAtube® pre‑galvanised steel hoops) and are generally clad with shade netting rather than polythene, offering a lower‑cost, flexible alternative; partial polythene cladding can be applied where needed.

Performance & suitability
  • Provide semi‑shading and protection from direct sun while allowing free air circulation to reduce plant stress and overheating.
  • Structure design gives shelter from strong winds, helping prevent crop damage.
  • Paraweb flat‑tape roof and heavy‑duty components make the systems suitable for climates with significant snowfall.

Manufacture, services & support
  • 2D & 3D modelling, structural analysis and project engineering support available for bespoke designs.
  • Manufactured in a UK facility with substantial steel‑processing capacity to support large projects.
  • On‑site project management, dedicated manufacturing and delivery logistics, plus aftercare and maintenance support are offered.

Technical specifications
  • Section module: 3.75m x 3.75m (grid layout).
  • Typical internal height: approx. 2.7m.
  • Framework: 50mm (2") diameter MAGNAtube® / MG35 high‑tensile pre‑galvanised steel tubing.
  • Roof cladding: Paraweb heavy‑duty flat‑tape, 40–45% shade.
  • Side cladding: 40% shade knitted polyethylene monofilament; alternatives: anti‑bird, insect, butterfly netting.
  • Access: clear sections or doors (0.89m x 2.55m).
  • Design benefit: flat‑tape Paraweb roof sheds snow by tipping straps; allows free air circulation while sheltering from wind.
  • Suitable for irregular‑shaped and made‑to‑measure installations for commercial growers.
