Among the truck-mounted chippers offered by Pezzolato, there are the ‘Hackertrucks’, whose drum is driven by the truck own engine, thus eliminating the auxiliary engine, lightening the vehicle and increasing its maneuverability. These chippers are highly appreciated by large contractors, looking for high hourly production rates and having the necessity of moving quickly among distant operating locations. Pezzolato Hackertrucks are mounted on three-axle trucks and, according to the set-up and configuration, they can stay within the legal 26-ton mass or exceed it, for example when the installation of a hydraulic log splitter is required, for a drum with a diameter of 820 mm and a width of more than 120 cm, for a drum with a diameter of 1000 mm. According to the customer's preferences and production requirements, these chippers can be assembled either on a 540-Hp (13-liters) Man 6x6 truck, or on a 650-Hp (16-liters) Volvo 6x4 truck, or alternatively, to avoid ‘exceptional’ mass (over 26 tons) on a Volvo 8x4 truck in Tridem configuration. The Man-powered Hackertrucks can be fitted with an adjusted cab or be realized in the so-called ‘Tornado’ model, which is characterized by a rotatable cab at high visibility, a woodchip ejection fan in the centre of the chassis, and the possibility of moving the vehicle along the woodpile without interrupting the movement of the drum. The Volvo-powered Hackertrucks, which are significantly more powerful than the Man ones, can be fitted with an adjusted cab and eventually have the option of remote driving from the operator's station.
