Stainless steel heat exchanger SCF

Description The SCF heat exchanger for biological sludge is installed to maintain a constant digester operating temperature and to prevent sudden thermal changes greater than 2–3 °C. It consists of a set of concentric pipes joined with 180° elbows. Sludge circulates in the internal piping while water runs externally in counter-current, acting as a thermal flywheel. Typical inlet sludge temperature is 30–32 °C and outlet sludge temperature is 37–40 °C. Sludge velocity inside the exchanger is approximately 1.5 m/s. Maximum heat exchange capacity is about 22,500 kcal/m²·h. Vent and drain valves located at the top and bottom piping sections ensure efficient operation. The exchanger is completely demountable to allow easier internal cleaning operations. Standard construction is carbon steel; on request it can be supplied entirely in stainless steel or as a hybrid with internal stainless steel tubes and external carbon steel tubes.
