DESCRIPTION The SF sludge storing silo is designed for medium and large wastewater treatment plants to store sludge already dewatered after thickening and treatment by belt presses or centrifuges. The silo comprises a parallelepiped tank with a rectangular base, a truncated-cone discharge hopper, an upper distribution screw (shaft type), two lower shaftless extraction screws, a manhole, walkways with handrails, service ladders and support legs. A sloping loading screw for truck loading can be supplied on request.

The tank is fabricated from suitably thick metal sheet and reinforced along the upper and lower perimeter by ribs. Support legs include base plates and anchor bolts. Inlet sludge with dry solids concentration from 18% to 30% is distributed along the silo length by the shafted distributing screw. The hopper wall inclination along the entire length directs sludge toward the two lower shaftless extraction screws. A cover is provided to ensure required hygiene at the installation site.

The rectangular base and the innovative discharge system prevent bridging and preferential flow channels, even with sludge at high dry solids content. The silo can be equipped on request with ultrasonic level sensors and/or weighing cells installed at the support legs for continuous quantity measurement. Due to its large size the silo is pre-assembled and tested in the workshop and supplied in parts for site welding or, on request, bolting. Standard material is stainless steel; carbon steel is available on request.
