DESCRIPTIONMycotoxins cannot be seen in the feed store, but they show up on the farm. They come in with cereals, silage or straw, and the signs are familiar: irregular intake, poorer feed conversion, animals that never quite perform and a liver that is working overtime. And it is common for several of them to occur together in the same ration.
Mic-Ox Complet is AMBiotec's complementary mineral feed for feeds and rations with mycotoxin problems, formulated for all species and all categories. It is the all-purpose reference of the Mic-Ox line: it is added to compound feed or to the TMR mixer wagon on any farm, and feed mills also use it to clean the manufacturing circuit.
It acts as a mycotoxin binder and adsorbent in the digestive tract. Two technological clays, sepiolite and bentonite, bind the toxins in the intestinal lumen so that they are excreted in the faeces instead of being absorbed. The formula is completed with β-glucans, mannan-oligosaccharides and betaine, aimed at intestinal immunity and liver function.
WHAT IT BRINGS TO THE FARM- Mycotoxins: strong binding capacity in the digestive tract; controls the toxic effects of the six most pathogenic mycotoxins.
- Bacterial biotoxins: binding and neutralising capacity that helps prevent acute episodes caused by E. coli and clostridial biotoxins.
- Liver and performance: stimulates liver function and improves performance by preventing the liver damage caused by bio- and mycotoxins.
- Gut and defences: increases the number of intestinal immune cells, protects the intestinal mucosa and reduces its permeability.
- Antioxidant action: reduces free-radical formation thanks to its high redox activity and improves meat shelf life.
TARGET SPECIES AND PRODUCTION STAGES- Dairy cattle: lactating cows, dry cows and replacement heifers.
- Beef cattle: fattening calves from weaning to slaughter, and grazing calf programmes.
- Sheep and goats: dairy and meat ewes and does, and lamb and kid programmes.
- Pigs: sows, piglets and fattening pigs.
- Poultry: broilers, laying hens and breeders.
- Feed mills: cleaning of the manufacturing circuit.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE- Administration: oral, via the feed. Add it in the mixer; as a fine powder it disperses evenly in compound feeds and TMR.
- Label dose for all species: 2 kg per tonne of feed.
- Guideline according to contamination level: 1 kg/t in feeds and rations with one type of mycotoxin, 2 kg/t with two types and 3 kg/t with three types.
- Cleaning the manufacturing circuit: 3 kg per 200 kg of whole maize.
Field example: a feedlot producing 10 tonnes of feed a week adds 20 kg of Mic-Ox Complet at the label dose, that is, one bag a week.
Practical points: always add it in the mixer, not in the feeder, keeping the usual mixing time; handle with respiratory protection, goggles and gloves; and check compatibility with any medication in the feed before formulating (see Safety and compatibility). AMBiotec's in-house laboratory analyses raw materials and feeds to support the farm's nutrition plan.
COMPOSITION AND ANALYTICAL CONSTITUENTS- Composition: calcium carbonate, β-glucans and mannan-oligosaccharides.
- Additives (per kg): mixture of flavouring compounds 220,000 mg. Technological additives: sepiolite (1g562) 184,300 mg and bentonite (1m558i) 145,800 mg. Nutritional additives: betaine anhydrous (3a925) 41,800 mg.
- Analytical constituents: crude protein 5.9%, crude fibre 0.4%, crude oils and fats 0.1%, crude ash 58%, calcium 1.1%, phosphorus 0.73%, sodium 1,545 mg/kg, magnesium 2.53%, lysine below 0.1%, methionine below 0.1%.
- Physico-chemical properties: solid powder with a neutral taste; density 0.6–0.75 g/ml at 25 °C; pH 3–6; moisture 2.5–6%.
- How the formula works: sepiolite and bentonite are the clays that bind and adsorb mycotoxins, on a calcium carbonate mineral base. β-glucans and mannan-oligosaccharides support intestinal immunity, and betaine completes the formula.
SAFETY AND COMPATIBILITY- Natural origin: natural ingredients that cause no side effects and do not generate resistance.
- Label contraindications: do not use at the same time as macrolides. In poultry, do not use at the same time as robenidine. Simultaneous use with coccidiostats is contraindicated if more than 5 kg/t of bentonite is used in the complete feed.
- Bentonite supply: at 2 kg/t, Mic-Ox Complet supplies about 0.29 kg of bentonite per tonne, and about 0.44 kg at 3 kg/t; the limit above refers to total bentonite in the complete feed.
- Handling: use respiratory protection, goggles and gloves.
- Veterinary judgement: Mic-Ox Complet is a complementary feed and does not replace the diagnosis or judgement of the farm's veterinarian.
