Description

DESCRIPTION
In extensive systems, pasture does not cover everything the flock or herd needs all year round. In summer, in drought or on stubble with straw, the diet falls short of minerals and vitamins just when the most demanding moments arrive: late gestation and early lactation.
Rumincube is AMBiotec's vitamin-mineral complementary feed in a 20 kg lick tub for ruminants in extensive systems, designed to be left free-choice in the field. It supplies sodium, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus, the trace elements zinc, manganese, iodine, cobalt and selenium, vitamins A, D3, E, B1 and B6, and urea as a source of non-protein nitrogen, on a base of molasses and carob meal that makes it palatable.
The animal itself regulates how much it licks according to what its diet lacks: that is why intake may be higher at first, while the flock or herd restores its mineral balance.
WHAT IT BRINGS TO THE FARM
  • Minerals and vitamins where pasture falls short: corrects the deficiencies of diets based on poor pasture, stubble or straw.
  • Better use of the ration: non-protein nitrogen (urea) and the sugars in molasses support the activity of the rumen microbiota in fibrous diets.
  • Support in demanding phases: mineral and vitamin reinforcement for females in late gestation and during lactation.
  • Immune status: zinc, selenium and vitamins A and E contribute to the normal functioning of the immune system.
  • Simple management: free-choice, with no rations to prepare and no feed to distribute.
TARGET SPECIES AND SYSTEMS
  • Sheep and goats in extensive systems: flocks on pasture, grazing stubble or in periods of drought.
  • Cattle in extensive systems: suckler cows and young stock being reared on pasture.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
  • Administration: free-choice (free access).
  • Placement: position it so that the animals can reach it easily and lick it without difficulty; never in the feed trough.
  • When: recommended in periods of drought, together with straw.
  • First days: intake may be higher at the start, while the animals' mineral balance is restored.
  • Urea: only for animals with a functional rumen; adaptation must be gradual and a maximum of 30 % of the total nitrogen in the daily ration may come from urea.
Practical points: put out enough lick tubs so that every animal in the group has access, including subordinate animals; place them under cover from rain if possible; and monitor intake during the first weeks.
