Description

DESCRIPTION
The first days of life are the most delicate stage of rearing. A calf, lamb or kid fed on milk replacer arrives with a digestive tract and defences that are still immature, and in the rearing house animal density, feeding changes and parasite pressure all come together. How the animal gets through those weeks determines weight gain, batch uniformity and how many animals reach weaning.
Bilantul Milk is the powdered phytobiotic of AMBiotec's Balance range for the milk replacer of suckling calves, lambs and kids. It combines natural plant extracts (essential oils) and natural vitamin E on a dextrose and whey permeate base. It dissolves directly in the milk replacer and is used continuously throughout the whole milk-feeding period. It is the format of the Bilantul phytobiotic platform designed for the young animal's liquid feed.
Its action is based on the balance of the digestive microbiota: it stimulates the growth of beneficial flora, helps to protect the intestinal mucosa and reduce its permeability, and strengthens the animal's natural defences at the most sensitive stage of its productive life.
WHAT IT BRINGS TO THE FARM
  • Parasite pressure: nutritional support in rearing houses with coccidia, cryptosporidia, nematode and cestode challenge. It fits into the farm's parasite control programme without replacing it.
  • Gut microbiota: stimulates the growth of beneficial microbiota and reduces the effects of toxins from undesirable bacteria such as clostridia.
  • Mucosa and defences: protects the intestinal mucosa by reducing its permeability and strengthens the defences of the immune system.
  • Digestive balance: support in situations of bloat, acidosis and digestive dysbiosis, which are common in artificial rearing.
  • Performance: better use of nutrients, more uniform batches and better results at weaning.
TARGET SPECIES AND PRODUCTION STAGES
  • Dairy calves: rearing of replacement heifers on milk replacer, from the first week until weaning.
  • Beef calves: suckling calves on artificial milk feeding, for grazing or feedlot systems, until weaning.
  • Suckling lambs: artificial rearing on automatic milk feeders, throughout the milk-feeding period.
  • Suckling kids: artificial rearing on automatic milk feeders, throughout the milk-feeding period.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
  • Administration: orally, dissolved in the milk replacer, continuously throughout the whole milk-feeding period.
  • Label dose: 1 kg per tonne of milk replacer powder.
  • Suckling calves, week 1: 1.5 g per calf per feed (3 g per calf per day).
  • Suckling calves, from week 2 to weaning: 0.5 g per calf per feed (1 g per calf per day).
  • Lambs and kids (indicative programme from the brochure): on automatic milk feeders, 1 g per lamb or kid, in the milk replacer, throughout the milk-feeding period.
Field example: a house with 40 calves fed twice a day needs 120 g of Bilantul Milk per day during the first week and 40 g per day from the second week until weaning.
Practical points: add the product when preparing the milk, in the same reconstitution water, so that it is evenly distributed in each feed; weigh the daily amount on a precision scale; and close the bag tightly after each use to protect it from moisture.
COMPOSITION AND ANALYTICAL CONSTITUENTS
  • Composition: dextrose, whey permeate, monopropylene glycol and magnesium carbonate.
  • Additives (per kg): mixture of flavouring substances 21,340 mg. Technological additives: glyceryl polyethylene glycol ricinoleate (E484) 1,991 mg; silicic acid (E551a) 28,930 mg. Nutritional additives: RRR-alpha-tocopheryl acetate (3a700ii) 1,903 IU.
  • Analytical constituents: crude protein 0.3 %, crude fibre 17.3 %, crude oils and fats 1.3 %, crude ash 4 %, sodium 630 mg/kg, phosphorus below 0.1 %, magnesium below 0.1 %, calcium below 0.1 %.
  • Physico-chemical properties: white powder with a characteristic odour; pH 5–7; density 0.3–0.5 g/ml.
  • How the formula works: the mixture of flavouring substances is the phytobiotic fraction, natural vitamin E completes it, and the dextrose and whey permeate base makes it compatible with milk replacer.
SAFETY AND COMPATIBILITY
  • Natural origin: ingredients of natural origin, with no known side effects, that do not generate resistance.
  • Compatibility: mixes with the farm's usual milk replacer; no incompatibilities with other products are known.
  • Veterinary judgement: Bilantul Milk is a complementary feed and does not replace the diagnosis or judgement of the veterinarian responsible for the farm.
LOGISTICS
  • Format: 20 kg bag.
  • Shelf life: 12 months from the date of manufacture.
  • Storage: keep the container tightly closed, in a cool (not above 25 °C), dry place, away from heat sources and sunlight.
REGULATORY FRAMEWORK
  • Category: complementary feed for milk replacers for calves, lambs and kids in the milk-feeding stage.
  • Registration number: ESP45000371.
  • Manufacturer: manufactured and marketed by Agroalimentaria Manchega de Biotecnología, S.L. (AMBiotec), Toledo (Spain).
  • Management systems: FAMI-QS, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
  • R&D&I: formulation developed in AMBiotec's own R&D&I laboratory, which analyses raw materials, feed, water and faeces as part of its technical service to farms.
