FT-1600 Leaf Trailer — 2-in-1 Professional Leaf Vacuum Trailer with EU Type Approval (CoC) for Compact Tractors, Loaders and Municipal Machinery | Foresteel
The FT-1600 is Foresteel's most popular leaf vacuum trailer and the benchmark choice for professional municipal and greencare operations. It combines a 2.5 m³ hydraulic tipping trailer with a self-contained Briggs & Stratton-powered leaf vacuum, shredder, and full net extension enclosure — road-legal across the EU via Type Approval Certificate of Conformity. One operator. One machine. The full seasonal workload handled.
WHO IT'S FORThe FT-1600 is the standard procurement choice for municipal grounds maintenance teams, Bauhöfe, parks and recreation departments, greencare contractors, golf clubs, cemeteries, sports facilities, campuses, and hotel and hospitality grounds teams. It is the most widely deployed model in the Foresteel range, used across 21 countries in Europe, North America and beyond. Compatible towing machinery: compact tractors (20–60 HP), compact loaders, and similar municipal or professional grounds equipment.
THE PRODUCTIVITY CASELeaf season creates intense short-window workload with limited staff. Manual raking, leaf blower chasing, and repeated tipping runs are slow, labour-intensive, and weather-dependent. The FT-1600 changes the operational picture entirely.
The integrated shredder blade reduces collected leaf volume by up to 10 times before it enters the trailer body. A 2.5 m³ trailer therefore holds the equivalent of 25+ m³ of loose, unshredded leaves. In practice, the number of dump runs per working day is cut dramatically — significantly increasing the productive time the operator spends collecting rather than driving to and from a dump site.
Customers consistently report 4 to 5 times better cleanup efficiency versus manual methods. One golf club cleaned two full course areas in a single day — work that previously required two days and twice the staff.
2-IN-1 SEASONAL UTILITYThe leaf vacuum unit dismounts from the trailer chassis in approximately 20 minutes using 4 bolts. The trailer then operates as a standard 2.5 m³ hydraulic tipping trailer for the rest of the year — transporting soil, mulch, gravel, garden waste, or any other bulk material. One investment. Twelve months of utility.
EU TYPE APPROVAL — ROAD LEGAL ACROSS THE EUThe FT-1600 CoC version carries full EU Type Approval (Certificate of Conformity), making it registerable and legally road-operable in all EU member states. For municipal procurement teams managing compliant fleet operations — and for operators needing to move the trailer between sites on public roads — this is the legal standard, and the FT-1600 meets it. CoC versions include an overrun inertia braking system.
HOW IT WORKSThe self-contained leaf impeller generates high-speed airflow through the 200 mm / 5 m suction hose. Debris is drawn in, shredded by the Hardox shredder blade, and discharged into the galvanized steel net-extension enclosure. The top PVC cover controls airflow direction, keeping collected material inside while allowing air to exhaust cleanly. The trailer tips hydraulically at 50°+ — sufficient to discharge even wet, compacted loads without manual assistance. The operator controls the entire operation from the tow vehicle seat. No additional personnel required.
MOWING DECK INTEGRATIONWith the optional universal mowing deck adapter kit, the FT-1600 connects directly to the mowing deck discharge outlet of compatible compact tractors. This enables simultaneous mowing and collection — cutting grass while collecting clippings or leaves in a single pass. Effective for golf course fairway maintenance, cemetery strip mowing, and park turf areas where clean results are required in minimal passes.
The optional Underframe Suction Unit mounts beneath the trailer and automatically collects loose surface debris as the unit is driven forward — an effective complement to the main handheld vacuum for large open areas.
CONSTRUCTIONHot-dip galvanized frame, side panels, and corner posts for long-term corrosion resistance. Vacuum impeller housing in Hardox wear-resistant steel. Wide 20" turf tires for minimal ground pressure on grass. Adjustable drawbar height for compatibility across different towing machinery. Rotating hitch coupler for safety on uneven terrain.
ENGINE OPTIONS — G2 VACUUM UNITThe FT-1600 is configured with Foresteel's second-generation G2 debris loader. Three options are available:
- MIDvac G2 — 14 HP Briggs & Stratton Vanguard, manual start. 112 m³/min airflow. Hardox impeller and shredder blade.
- MIDvac G2-EL — 14 HP Briggs & Stratton Vanguard, electric start. Same specification with added start comfort.
- PROvac G2 — 18 HP Briggs & Stratton Vanguard, electric start. Recommended for large sites, dense debris loads, or sustained heavy daily use.
All options include a 200 mm / 5 m suction hose with lightweight wheeled ergonomic nozzle and Quick-Connect system. Integrated hour meter on all units. Engine warranty: 24 months (14 HP) / 36 months (18 HP Vanguard).
OPTIONAL: UNDERFRAME SUCTION UNITA passive suction inlet mounted beneath the trailer automatically collects surface debris as the trailer is driven forward. Works in combination with the main vacuum unit. Most effective in dry conditions and on hard or semi-hard surfaces. Reduces the number of manual vacuum passes required to achieve a clean result on large open areas.
OPTIONAL: MOWING DECK ADAPTER SETUniversal adapter connects the FT-1600 vacuum directly to the mowing deck of compatible tractors for simultaneous cut-and-collect operation. Supplied with deck boot and 3.5 m suction hose with Quick-Connect.

WHAT CUSTOMERS SAY"It's a time-saver for us. We were much more efficient last leaf season and saved a lot of time. What makes it great is that it's easy to unmount the leaf equipment and use the trailer for transporting soil and other goods year-round." — Niitvälja Golf, Estonia
"The 4–5× increase in leaf cleanup efficiency frees up time for more important tasks." — Pühajärve SPA, Estonia
"We managed to clean two areas of the golf course in less than a day. Normally it would have taken two days with twice the labour." — Paul M., EGCC Golf, Estonia
"Why didn't we get this one earlier? We collect leaves much easier and quicker now, and we don't need to clean them twice due to wind anymore." — Tierp Church, Sweden
Used by municipalities, golf clubs, greencare contractors, sports grounds, cemeteries, campuses and hospitality teams across 21 countries.
