Overview- Large square baler designed for 80 x 90 cm bales with configurable length and density control
- MegaWide™ pickup and MegaTough™ pickup teeth for high-capacity intake
- Integrated moisture sensor and John Deere bale weighing system
- ISOBUS-compatible controls and BalerAssist drivetrain
MegaWide™ pickup with MegaTough™ pickup teethThe pickup is manufactured by John Deere in Ottumwa, Iowa. A low-profile pickup drum with a large-diameter roller baffle compresses crop against the tines to increase intake efficiency and reduce crop loss.
- 2.2 m (7.2 ft) pickup available on L331R and L341R; tooth-to-tooth width 1.92 m (76 in.); standard or premium component options; eight staggered tooth bars to reduce overload; semi-pneumatic fixed gauge wheels for ground gauging.
- MegaTough pickup teeth offer increased strength and durability; heavy-duty end teeth improve crop retrieval.
- Chain-driven feeding with mechanical cutout clutch protection for durability.
Premium MegaWide™ pickupOptional premium pickup upgrades include larger cams, cam bearings, and larger spider gears with bearings to extend service life and reduce noise during operation.
Double-tie knotter systemGear- and driveline-driven double-tie knotters provide consistent knotting under high density and challenging conditions. Knotters feature integrated auto-lube, grease ports, and accessible adjustment screws.
- Integrated auto-lube in knotter frames with two internal grease ports to lower pre-baling maintenance.
- Split knotter frame mounted to intermittent gear for removal without servicing the knotter stack.
- Sealed gear tensioners for consistent twine tension; twine stored in single-row boxes routed to sealed tensioners.
Connection point and lube line reductions (knotter system)L331 — Connection points reduced: 8
L341 — Connection points reduced: 12
L331 — Lube line reduction: 16.8 m (55 ft)
L341 — Lube line reduction: 25.3 m (83 ft)
Knotter trip systemThe knotter trip is driven by gearbox and driveline to maintain needle-to-plunger timing with hardened cast-iron components. The gearbox rotates the system around 360° to complete ties. Two trip options are available: mechanical or electrical. The electrical trip enables bale-length adjustment and final-bale tie-off from the cab, reduces maintenance, improves length accuracy, and provides predictive tie functions.
Baler monitor and ISOBUS compatibilityISOBUS-compatible control works with ISOBUS monitors and John Deere GreenStar displays. Features include user-selectable main screens, direction arrows for uniform bales, electronic knotter flags, status feedback (flywheel brake/precutter/greasing/lighting/bale chute/bale drop), and display of bale weight and moisture when equipped. Bale counts selectable by field/customer/season/lifetime.
Moisture sensorIntegrated moisture sensor mounted forward in the bale chamber provides real-time bale moisture readings during baling and can interface with the preservative system to adjust application rates.
Weighing systemJohn Deere bale weighing system measures bale weight flake-by-flake via sensors on the pre-compression chamber floor and displays current and prior bale weights on the monitor to support consistent bale production.
Preservative applicatorOptional factory-installed preservative system supports harvesting at higher moisture to reduce spoilage risk. Key elements: 567 L (150 U.S. gal.) poly tank, 12-V diaphragm pump, integration with John Deere electronics, ExactApply™ nozzles, and crop-detection sensors to apply preservative only when crop is present.
BalerAssist drivetrain systemHydraulic drivetrain control enabling forward and reverse at two speeds each direction (up to ~4 plunger strokes/min). Benefits include faster plug removal, reduced maintenance time, and slower cycles for improved knotter troubleshooting. Controlled via ISOBUS display or included Bluetooth remote (functions: enable, slow/fast forward, slow/fast reverse, service lights).
