ExactEmerge™ and BrushBelt™ trench delivery system
ExactEmerge™ maintains accurate seed placement at higher planting speeds to support timely operations and yield potential. The BrushBelt™ trench delivery system carries seed on a brush belt to provide consistent seed spacing across even and uneven terrain, minimizing seed bounce and ricochet and delivering a low-release seed drop to the trench bottom. The BrushBelt cartridge is self-cleaning; a brush conditioner removes residue and prevents bristle sticking. BrushBelt also improves seed sensor performance by presenting each seed to the reflective sensor for more accurate population data.

BrushBelt maintenance and notes
The BrushBelt system requires minimal maintenance; replace the belt after noticeable wear or reduced performance. Belt change: latch meter off the trench delivery system, remove cartridge, remove two plastic covers to access belt, twist spring tensioner dial to release tension and remove belt. Replace stainless-steel wear strip when changing the belt. NOTE: Recommended talc/graphite mixture for ExactEmerge™ use is 80% talc and 20% graphite; where talc restrictions apply, use a wax-based fluency agent.

SeedStar 5 — monitoring and planting technology
SeedStar 5 is the monitoring software for model year 2025 planters paired with G5 displays and Implement Ethernet for high-definition (5 Hz) documentation and faster data speeds. Benefits include:
  • Faster data speeds
  • High-definition (5 Hz) documentation
  • Support for technologies such as ExactShot and FurrowVision
  • Foundation for future planter automation
Requirements:
  • G5 Display required
  • Planter Implement Ethernet (included on model year 2025 planters)

Downforce system options
Individual Row Hydraulic Downforce (IRHD)
IRHD is a closed-loop, individual-row downforce system that reacts quickly to changing soil conditions to maintain gauge wheel contact and improve seed depth consistency. Key points:
  • Responds up to five times per second and can make adjustments of 45.4 kg (100 lb) in less than one second
  • Total applied downforce range: 22.7 kg (50 lb) to 204.1 kg (450 lb)
  • Uses tractor power beyond circuit; actuator includes valve, pressure sensor, cylinder, and two rechargeable nitrogen accumulators
  • Controlled via G5 Display with SeedStar 5; operators can view ground contact or applied downforce

Integrated pneumatic downforce
An integrated pneumatic solution controlled through the display automates downforce to maintain a target margin across the planter. Factory target margin is 45.4 kg (100 lb) and is user-adjustable. The pneumatic system provides adjustable downforce from 6.8 to 181.4 kg (15 to 400 lb) and uses an improved compressor with 9.5-mm (3/8-in.) air delivery line for higher durability and increased airflow.

Heavy-duty adjustable downforce springs
Provides up to 181.4 kg (400 lb) of downforce with four settings: 0 kg (0 lb), 56.7 kg (125 lb), 113.4 kg (250 lb), and 181.4 kg (400 lb).

Easy Adjust row cleaners
Easy Adjust row cleaners (including coulter combo) provide a pneumatic, in-cab adjustable row tillage solution with on-the-go adjustments from the tractor seat, three saved presets for ground engagement, and section control (left wing, right wing, center). Uses SharkTooth® wheels for residue clearing. Integration with SeedStar displays is available (SeedStar 4 HP integration on 4600 CommandCenter / 4640 Universal Display; SeedStar 5HP requires a G5 Universal Display). The pneumatic row cleaner uses air from the active pneumatic downforce compressor; no additional compressor required.

Seed variable-rate drive
The variable-rate drive on integral planter completing packages uses three hydraulic motors to turn the seeding drive shaft, enabling on-the-go seeding rate changes from the in-cab display and map-based planting via prescription maps. Requires a SeedStar™ monitor and a speed input signal (tractor or planter radar or GPS speed; radar recommended). Three-width drive disconnect is base equipment on certain integral packages to selectively disable drive segments.

Seed meters and central commodity options
Base seed meter system is vacuum-based. Central Commodity System (CCS) options provide larger seed capacity choices including Mini-Hopper, 1.6 bu and 3.0 bu Row Hoppers, and larger CCS tank options depending on model selection. Seed meter and delivery options include ExactEmerge™ cartridges and MaxEmerge™ 5e/MaxEmerge™ 5 row units depending on configuration.

John Deere Connected Support™
Connected Support leverages JDLink™ telematics to monitor machine health, alert users and dealers of issues, enable remote viewing of in-cab displays, remote diagnostics, and remote software reprogramming to reduce downtime and speed issue resolution. With permission, Connected Support can provide proactive alerts and enable faster responses.
