When to use itThe FC screw filter is suitable for micro-screening of civil and industrial wastewater and for filtration of sludge and supernatants in treatment plants.
How it is madeThe main components are a multifunction screw and a semi-cylindrical filtering screen. The standard screen is a semi-cylinder of longitudinal wedge-wire bars; the bar spacing defines the filtration opening. On request, the bars can be replaced by a perforated plate with hole diameter defining the opening. The multifunction screw is keyed to a gearmotor; its functions are achieved by progressively decreasing diameters and variable pitch and thickness according to the area and required operation.
How it worksIn the standard version the unit is installed in a concrete channel where wastewater flows through the screen, which retains solids equal to or larger than the chosen opening. When material accumulation causes a differential level upstream/downstream, a level sensor drives the screw rotation. The lower screw area matches the screen diameter so a brush on the screw profile continuously cleans the screen. The middle, smaller-diameter area conveys and drains the screened material. The upper area, with progressively smaller pitch and increased thickness, compacts the material. After compaction and drainage the screened material reaches approx. 50% dry solids by weight. The fully enclosed body minimizes odor emissions. The FC is supplied with a standard washing system with nozzles and pressurized water for the screen and screened material.
Strengths- Screening, lifting, compaction and washing of screened material in a single machine
- High specific flow rates
- Fully enclosed unit to reduce odor emissions
- Durable and reliable design
