Description

Overview
The TopCut cutting roller combination enables ultra-shallow soil tillage (typical working depth 0–3 cm) to preserve soil moisture, protect the humus layer and limit soil disturbance. It is designed for intensive residue shredding, mechanical weed control and seedbed preparation adapted to direct drilling and Cut 'n' Sow workflows.

Ultra-shallow tillage benefits
Ultra-shallow operation breaks only surface capillarity while maintaining deeper capillarity, reduces soil movement and protects soil life. This approach lowers diesel consumption per hectare, reduces wear and allows high working speeds, delivering a cost-efficient preparation method under dry or residue-rich conditions.

The TopCut concept
  • Two-section folding frame for rapid transport configuration to approx. 3 m.
  • Optional single-row Knife roller as a leading tool for intensive shredding on trailed models.
  • Main segment with double Knife roller as standard; for trailed machines selectable: double Knife roller, double Minimum TillDisc, or a combination Knife roller + Minimum TillDisc.
  • Rear options: harrows for combing out weeds; optional packer roller for targeted reconsolidation on trailed versions.

TopCut – universal uses and compatibility
The TopCut is a universal implement for establishing catch crops, shredding harvest residues and performing mechanical weed control throughout the year. It integrates into the Cut 'n' Sow process and is compatible with a range of seeders and direct-drill systems to optimise sowing conditions.

Areas of application
  • Stubble shredding in oilseed rape, sunflowers, maize and catch crops
  • Uniform straw distribution and improved straw management
  • Promotion of straw decomposition by mixing residues with fine surface soil
  • Mechanical weed control prior to sowing
  • Seedbed preparation with a high proportion of fine soil and optimum reconsolidation for reliable emergence

Benefits of ultra-shallow seedbed preparation with high organic matter
  • Water-saving, cost-effective system to optimise direct drilling under difficult conditions
  • Reduced risk of blockages in tine-coulter seed drills
  • Effective slug control through intensive cutting and residue distribution
  • High output with low fuel consumption per hectare

Technical specifications
  • Working depth: ultra-shallow, approx. 0–3 cm
  • Frame: two-section folding concept, transport width approx. 3 m
  • Tooling options: single-row Knife roller (option for trailed models), double Knife roller (standard main segment), double Minimum TillDisc, or combination Knife roller + Minimum TillDisc
  • Rear options: harrows for weed combing; optional packer roller for trailed machines for reconsolidation
  • Primary applications: stubble shredding, catch crop establishment, straw management, mechanical weed control, seedbed preparation for direct drilling
  • Designed for minimal soil movement to preserve soil structure and soil life and to reduce fuel and wear costs
