Product overviewThe ARPAL MB-60BD (Light series) is the most compact gasoline-powered drum wood shredder in the ARPAL range, built for processing branches up to 60 mm in diameter into high-quality wood chips. Weighing 93 kg on pneumatic wheels, with a carry handle and a balanced center of gravity, it moves easily around the property — and fits into a compact van or station wagon (Fiat Doblo / VW Caddy class), or even a passenger car trunk with the hopper removed.
The right choice for households, gardens, small farms and mobile contractors. The machine complies with EU safety directives and is trusted by customers in Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada and beyond.
The output is uniform wood chips of 5–50 mm (90% of the output; fraction depends on input material) — fuel for solid-fuel boilers and stoves, raw material for briquettes and charcoal, premium mulch for soil protection, and chips for smoking. Please note: this shredder is designed for branches — not for boards, beams, slabs or other sawmill material.
Key features- StormBlade shredding technologies — PowerFlow cutting module: balanced welded drum with two blades and internal blade pockets that double as air blades, creating an active airflow for clean cutting and steady, clog-free chip discharge; every drum is balanced after welding; UCF flange bearings.
- 2 LineCut blades in ISO 60WCrV7 (1.2550) tool steel, induction-hardened to 60 HRC over a ductile core — holds its edge under constant impact without chipping.
- Adjustable, precision-ground counter-blade (10 mm steel) holds the branch firmly for clean, even cuts — even thin and flexible material like willow; adjustable via slots as blades wear.
- Additional 8 kg flywheel (Ø 180 mm) raises total inertia by 20% — smooth cutting at maximum diameters with a compact 7 HP engine.
- PowerGuard friction clutch protects the engine from overload: if a branch stalls the cutting mechanism, the clutch disengages and the engine idles instead of stalling.
- Easy Start clutch engagement near 1500 rpm — smooth, stress-free startup for both operator and engine.
- Adjustable discharge deflector: ejection height up to 760 mm, angle set by hand with two knobs — no tools needed; loads chips straight into garden carts and containers.
- ARPAL Total Protect safety package: hopper geometry compliant with EU garden machinery safety norms; safety handle on the hopper that cuts the engine instantly; belt, clutch, pulley and flywheel fully enclosed in double-sided guards (quick to remove for service).
- ErgoBase functional design: tube-reinforced hopper with thickened base that withstands constant branch impacts; 5 mm steel body; pneumatic wheels, support leg and rubber feet for stability; premium electrostatic powder coating that keeps the machine corrosion-free and "like-new" even after years of outdoor use.
- Options: additional blade sets; counter-blade.
