Product overviewThe ARPAL MK-170BD Antistress (MAX series) is a gasoline-powered disc wood shredder with an intelligent Antistress automatic feed system, designed for mounting on a trailer (trailer not included). Fully autonomous thanks to its own 35 HP twin-cylinder engine, it processes branches up to 180 mm in diameter of any wood species and moisture level into high-quality wood chips. Built for forestry operations, municipal services, agribusiness and contractors. The machine complies with EU safety directives and is trusted by customers in Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada and beyond.
The output is uniform wood chips of 5–50 mm (90% of the output; fraction depends on input material) — a versatile resource: fuel for solid-fuel boilers and gasifiers, raw material for briquettes and charcoal, premium mulch for soil protection, and chips for professional smoking. Please note: this shredder is designed for branches and trunks — not for boards, beams, slabs or other sawmill material.
Key features- Antistress automatic feed system: an electronic control unit continuously tracks cutting disc RPM and controls the hydraulic feed. If RPM drops below 1450, the feed pauses instantly; it resumes automatically once RPM recovers. One operator simply feeds branches — the machine's "brain" does the rest, cutting required staff, lowering training needs, raising productivity and extending blade life.
- Autonomous hydraulic feed: own 25 L hydraulic system with two hydraulic motors driving the upper and lower feed rollers — no dependence on external hydraulics; Italian components, bench-tested. Reverse and feed buttons plus a safety stop handle at the hopper.
- StormBlade shredding technologies: 674 mm cutting disc in 30 mm steel weighing 82 kg — the disc acts as a flywheel, easing engine load; four integrated fan blades eject chips with strong airflow; the disc is balanced after welding; UCF flange bearings.
- 6 CircleCut circular blades in 41CrMo4 steel, induction-hardened to 60 HRC over a ductile core; patented single-bolt mounting — rotate the blade to use the entire cutting edge and replace it in minutes.
- Adjustable, heat-treated and precision-ground counter-blade (10 mm AISI 5140 steel) holds the branch firmly for clean, even cuts — even thin and flexible material like willow; adjustable via slots as blades wear.
- Twin-cylinder 4-stroke engine (35 HP) with electric start and battery; removable 15 L fuel tank that doubles as a fuel canister.
- Tool-free blade service: all service points sit under one bonnet with quick-release locks — instant access to blades and disc, no wrenches needed.
- 360° rotating discharge chute with tool-free deflector adjustment; ejection height up to 2,400 mm — straight into containers, truck or tractor trailers.
- ARPAL Total Protect safety package: hopper geometry compliant with EU safety norms; safety handle that stops the feed instantly; belts, pulleys and disc fully enclosed in double-sided guards (quick to remove for service).
- ErgoBase functional design: tube-reinforced hopper with thickened base that withstands constant branch impacts, folds for transport with quick-release locks; premium electrostatic powder coating that keeps the machine corrosion-free and "like-new" even after years of outdoor use.
- Options: additional blade sets; counter-blade.
