Description

CATEGORY POTABLE WATER
TYPOLOGY GRIT REMOVAL UNIT

WHEN TO USE IT
The screw grit classifier ESC with integrated Coanda effect is designed for installation in medium and large wastewater treatment plants. It is typically installed downstream of degritters to achieve high dewatering of the grit–water mixture, yielding a dewatered grit water content of about 10–12% and an organic matter content in the grit below 3%.

HOW IT IS MADE
  • Truncated conical tank
  • Specially shaped screw inclined at 30° or 45°
  • Motorized valve for organic matter discharge
  • Automatic grit washing system with rotameter for flow measurement, valves and solenoid valves for water flow regulation
  • Sensor for grit density measurement
  • Bottom drainage system
  • Sturdy gear motor sized for screw rotation
  • Grit discharge hopper
  • Supports and anchor bolts provided for stable mounting

HOW IT WORKS
Grit mixed with water and organics enters the ESC classifier from the upper central tank area through a tangential inlet with cyclone, producing separation by the Coanda effect. The upper design promotes immediate separation of particles heavier than water. Grit washing water is injected at the tank bottom to remove organic content. Water and organics exit the tank via a dedicated overflow and a motorized valve respectively, while grit settles on the bottom section. Settled grit is retained and lifted by the rotating screw to maximize drainage, then discharged via pipe into a disposal device.

RELIABILITY
The simple construction and quality components ensure high performance and reliable continuous operation. Standard construction is stainless steel; other stainless steel grades are available on request depending on wastewater aggressiveness.
