Water filter ABSWF

Overview
The ABSWF automatic backwash water filter is designed for large flow rates in medium and large plants using sea, river or lake water intakes. It provides reliable solid-liquid separation and is used to remove grit, suspended organic substances, algae and similar contaminants. It is suitable for in-line installation with flanged connections and continuous operation without stopping filtration.

When to use it
The ABSWF is typically used on medium and large plants where easy in-line installation, high reliability and effective removal of solids (grit, algae, suspended organics) are required, for seawater, river or lake intakes.

How it is made

• Sturdy cylindrical chamber composed of two compartments flanged in the centre line (raw water and filtered water) with dished heads at the ends
• Set of filtering cylindrical elements composed of trapezoidal bars installed above a rotating plate with a central driving shaft
• Flanged connections for raw water and filtered water
• Backwash system composed of a backwash collector and a motorized valve
• Instruments for monitoring pressures in the various sections
• Sturdy gearmotor on the rotating shaft complete with load limiter

Operation
During normal filtration the water crosses the filter elements by the pressure difference between the two compartments (always lower than 0.5 bar). When the differential pressure reaches the set maximum while filtration continues, backwashing of the filter elements begins. Depending on the model, backwash can occur in sequence one, two or three elements at a time until the differential pressure falls below the minimum set point.
