Overview
Providing permanent access to water for animals is a regulatory requirement and essential for pig health and performance. Sows in gestation and sows approaching farrowing have increased water needs; the watering system must meet peak consumption periods.

Regulation
All pigs over two weeks of age must have permanent access to a sufficient quantity of fresh water (COMMISSION DIRECTIVE 2001/93/EC).
