DESCRIPTION
In intensive feedlots, covering the protein and minerals of the ration at a reasonable cost is a matter of formulation. Part of the nitrogen can come from feed-grade urea, provided that the rumen is active and the ration has readily fermentable energy to make use of it.
AMBomba Terneros 2 % Natura is AMBiotec Nutrition's mineral complementary feed for beef calves, from weaning to slaughter, formulated for inclusion at 2 % in the feed. It provides vitamins A, D3, E, B1 and B6, the trace elements zinc, manganese, copper, iodine, cobalt and selenium, feed-grade urea as a source of non-protein nitrogen and sodium bicarbonate, on a base of calcium carbonate and magnesium oxide. According to the catalogue, it is designed for more natural nutrition programmes and provides a balanced supply of nutrients to maximise growth potential in intensive systems.
At 2 %, the product is easier to dose in feed mills and mixers that do not weigh small quantities accurately.
WHAT IT BRINGS TO THE FARM

• Non-protein nitrogen: urea provides nitrogen for microbial protein synthesis in the rumen; at 20 kg/t it amounts to about 4.4 kg of urea per tonne of feed.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

• Administration: orally, via the feed. For use exclusively in the manufacture of animal feed.
• Dose: 20 kg per tonne of feed.
• Urea (label): urea should only be given to animals with a functional rumen. It shall be introduced gradually up to the maximum dose. The maximum urea content shall only be given in diets rich in easily digestible carbohydrates and low in soluble nitrogen. A maximum of 30 % of the total nitrogen in the daily ration may come from urea.

Field example: each tonne of feed takes one 20 kg bag; a 10-tonne batch, 200 kg (ten bags). A 1,200 kg big bag covers 60 tonnes of feed.
Practical points: introduce the urea-containing feed progressively during adaptation to fattening; check in the formulation the nitrogen supplied by other sources so as not to exceed 30 % from urea; do not combine it with another mineral supplement in the range; and handle it with a dust mask, gloves and safety goggles.
