Category / TypologyCATEGORY: WATER INTAKE
TYPOLOGY: SCREENS
When to use itThe SGM automatic screen cleaner is designed for intakes with large flow rates of fresh or sea water: hydroelectric plant intakes, cooling water intakes, water treatment and desalination facilities, and industrial water intakes.
How it is madeThe SGM consists of a steel support structure with columns carrying a running monorail. A trolley runs on the monorail with four wheels, at least two of which are driven by gearmotors. Power to the trolley components is provided via a festoon multipolar cable or an electric cable reel. An electric hoist mounted on the trolley uses two steel ropes wound on a drum to raise and lower the screening bucket; the hoist includes a self-braking gearmotor, positioning sensors and electromechanical overload protection. Bucket actuation is by two double-acting stainless-steel hydraulic pistons controlled by a hydraulic unit installed on the trolley. A bucket screen collects the screened material.
How it worksThe bucket has a fixed lower scraper comb that remains in contact with the screen bars and conveys retained material downward during descent. An upper rotating bucket, driven by the pistons, secures the material during ascent for transport and discharge. The SGM can follow straight, curved or mixed trajectories, enabling cleaning of non-adjacent or non-linear screens. Operation is manual or fully automatic and can target individual screen sections for maintenance or channel draining.
Strengths- FAST CLEANING OF VERY LARGE CHANNELS
- POSSIBILITY OF WORKING ON NON-STRAIGHT SCREENS
