Product overviewThe ITC type water intake screen is designed for intake of fresh and sea water at small to medium flow rates when water quality does not require mechanical screening or when no electrical supply is available on site.
How it is madeIt consists of one or more T-shaped pipes fabricated from wedge-wire bars assembled to form T-shaped sections closed on two sides and open on one side, allowing filtered water to flow toward suction pumps or downstream processes.
How it worksRaw water enters the T-shaped pipe through the wedge-wire bars and reaches the single open outlet where a standard flange connects to the pump suction or transfer pipe. The geometry ensures uniform distribution of liquid over the filtering surface. Water passes through the gaps between the bars, reaching the discharge flange while retained solids are carried away by currents. Bar geometry optimizes self-cleaning by the flow. Optional water or air backwashing can be supplied when required. The design has no moving parts or electric motors, requires no civil works, features low installation and maintenance costs, and ensures quiet, consistent operation.
